13- denial

It's dark outside.

And freezing.

I sit on the cool grass, looking up at the stars, as the grass runs through my fingers.

"Dan?" I hear someone squeak from behind me.

"KY-" I jump up but stop in my tracks to see that nobody is there, "You're not dead Ky," I tell myself, sitting back down, "You aren't dead and I know it."

Leaning back, I place my arms behind my head, smiling as I remember how everynight Kyle and I would lay under the stars talking about random things. But usually, it would swerve into the world of cats and Kyle's burnt pancakes.

I close my eyes, trying to steady my breathes as I try to remember his face, his laugh, his smile, everything about him. I open my eyes, staring at the stars once more.

"I would do anything," I say in a shakey tone, "I swear. I would do anything to see you again, Kyle Simmons."
