F O U R T E E N

I'm drowning.

The water surronds me. It engulfs me. It eats me whole.

I look around, holding my breathe, a few air bubbles rise to the surface. My arms are raised above me as I drown, then I notice that something is attached to my ankle as I feel one leg heavier than the other.

I look down seeing that my ankle is tied to three bricks, and they are dragging me down, fast. I start to try and swim to the surface, but the more I struggle, the faster I go down. I am running out of air and I can't last longer.

"Dan!" I hear someone shout. Multiple voice join into the cheer now, yelling my name over and over again.

I wake up to see Kyle, Will, and Woody in front of me. I notice that my breathing is hard and unsteady, "Calm down, mate!" Woody yells, slapping me across the face. It took about a second after he removed his hand before my cheek started stinging. I stare at them in shock, sitting up in my bed.

"What happened?" I ask them, confused. They three of them give each other sad and worried glances before looking back at me.

"Dan. Now you have to listen and not freak out okay?" Kyle says in a tone as if I were an injured puppy. I nod, understanding. Kyle looks at Will and Will nods.

"Dan," Will starts, "Darcy has amnesia." I literally can feel my heart stop and shatter.

"She-She has what?" I ask in a hushed tone, not sure if I am still in a dream.

"She has amnesia, Dan. After Kyle told you in the hospital, you ran off. Six hours later we found you lieing in the middle of the street, knocked out cold, and soaked by the rain. We found out you purporsly had a car hit you. You've been unconcious for three weeks since then." Woody informs me, calmly. I grip my hair, starting to hyperventilate.

"I told you he would freak out!" Kyle yells. Will shrugs.

"She's basically the love of his life. What do you expect?"

"BASICALLY?!" I scoff, "SHE IS THE LOVE OF MY LIFE, WILLIAM! AND I INFORM YOU THAT I WILL GET HER BACK! I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU JACKASSES SAY!" I scream at them, tears running down my face. I scold them, glancing between their faces. Looking at their expressions, I breathe, calming myself down, "Is she out of the hospital?" I ask them. Woody nods.

"She's at her house." I nod and get up without saying a word. I hobble over to my wheelchair after not being able to find my prosthetic leg. I sit in my chair and roll myself over towards the front door.

"Wow, Dan! You aren't just going to show up at her doorstep!" Kyle yells, stopping me, forcing me to chuckle.

"For your information, Kyle, yes. Yes I am. Now get out of my goddamn way." I push him out of my way, causing him to fall back, landing on the floor with a thud. I make my way to the door, turning the handle, and head down the driveway. Sadly, since I can't find my prosthetic leg, I can't take the car.

Sighing, I turn the corner, heading towards a crosswalk. I have to wheel myself about ten miles before I get to her house. Great.

I jump in my wheelchair as I hear a honk from behind me. Turning around, I see Woody in his car with Will in the passenger seat and Kyle in the backseat, "Get in, you asshole." Woody says, sticking his head out the window. Will gets out of the car to help me in next to Kyle. Will folds the wheelchair and slaps the truck, telling Woody to open it. He presses a button and Will shoves it in the trunk then gets back into the car.

Woody starts driving again. I look at Kyle but he keeps his head hung down low, once in a while sniffling and wiping his eyes. A sighs escapes my lips as I look out the window. I must have really hurt him back there. Not physically but probably emotionally. It could have been both, he did hit the floor really hard when I pushed him.

God, I've become such and ass since Darcy formed amnesia on top of Leukemia.

"Dan, let's go." Will says, opening the car door for me. I stare at him for a minute, then my attention is geared towards Woody and Kyle who are talking to each other as Woody takes out my wheelchair. I notice that Kyle is crying. I have to look away because it hurts too much to see Kyle cry. Not for just me but for all of us. Kyle is like out kitten and it stings to see him hurt, "Let's go, Dan!" Will snaps, not to be rude but to catch my attention.

I nod, taking his hand. Will helps me out and walks me to my wheelchair. Together, the three of us slowly walk up to her door. I suddenly get butterflies. As Kyle knocks on the door.

We all stare at each other as we hear running and someone falling. My body falls numb as the door opens to reveal someone I wasn't expecting...
