30- oblivion

"Are you sure about this, Dan?" Will asks, both him, Woody, and Kyle with worried looks on their face, tears in their eyes.

I nod, trying to be brave. At exactly 9:00 pm. That's when I leave. That gives me an hour now.

Kyle steers my wheelchair out on stage as I roll it along, fans screaming, most crying, for they know what is to come. I wave at what seems to be the biggest crowd we have ever preformed in front of. We are outside of the theater because I knew that there wouldn't be enough room for the crowd that was to show. I high five some as I get to the edge of the stage, pain coursing through my body.

"Hello, everyone," I say in the microphone, smiling as I scan through the crowd, "Welcome to Bastille's last concert." I hear no screams like usual. Just silence and crying. I bite my lip, nodding, heading to my keyboard as we start playing a cover of Diamonds & Waste.

I check my watch. Ten minutes 'till nine. Inhaling deeply, trying not to cry, I take ahold of my microphone.

"This is sadly the last song. This is Oblivion." I place the microphone back and roll to my keyboard. Instinctively, everyone puts their lights up,

"When you fall asleep with your head upon my shoulder."

Tears start to roll down my cheeks, but I keep singing,

"When you're in my arms but you've gone somewhere deeper. Are you going to age with grace? Are you going to age without mistakes? Are you going to age with grace, or only to wake and hide your face?"

Fans start weeping louder and I hear Kyle, Will, and Woody start to cry now,

"When oblivion is calling out your name, you always take it further than I ever can."

I watch a fan in the front row fall onto her knees, crying hysterically, making my cry harder. I quickly wipe my tears and continue to play,

"When you play it hard, and I try to follow you there. It's not about control but I turn back when I see where you go. Are you going to age with grace? Are you going to leave a path the trace?"

Fans start singing along, making me smile slightly,

"But oblivion is calling out your name, you always take it further than I ever can."

My heart starts to ache and race. I try to stand up. I take the microphone, walking to the edge of the stage, hopping to the crowd, making my way through them until I am in the center.

"When oh oblivion is calling out your name, you always take it further then I ever can." The song ends and I try not to scream out of pain. I check my watch. 8:59. Fans can tell.

They all circle around me, hugging me.

"We love you, Dan." They all sing as everything turns white.
