Dan's *POV*

It's been about an hour since Darcy left. I sit alone in the kitchen, rubbing my index finger on a white glass tea cup, staring into it. It's too quiet and at this moment I wish someone would just fill the silence.

"Hello, Daniel." A familiar voice comes from behind me, forcing me to jump in my seat slightly. I turn around to see Augustus standing at least ten feet behind me.

"H-Hi, Gus." He smiles and shakes his head walking towards me.

"Way to go, Dan. But you know, you won't have long..." Augustus hugs me. Once I open my eyes, he is gone once more.

Darcy's *POV*

"Darcy," Patrick speaks up from the other room, "We will be having guests over tonight for dinner." I sit there on the couch, dumbstruck. We never have people over...ever.

"Uhm...okay. What's the occasion?"

Patrick starts laughing, "It's your friend's birthday!"

"Who?"

"Cameron. Remember Cam? He moved back, so, since it's his birthday, I invited him and his family over." My eyes grow wide thinking about my past with Cameron. Patrick doesn't know that Cam and I had a history together, "Oh! I almost forgot. I invited Dan over too. You guys seem like the best of friends, and I would like to get to know him better." Oh no...

"NO!" I accidentally yell.

"What?"

"Y-You....never mind." I can't tell him that Dan and I are a thing and that Cameron and I had a history together. I just can't throw that all in his face. Not now...

We have already got too many things to worry about.

The doorbell rings and I rush to get it, hoping it's Dan. I open the door, my wide smile suddenly fading.

"Oh...hey, Cameron." Cameron smiles and hugs me tightly.

"Hey, Darcy!" He yips excitedly.

I push him off, hesitantly, "Ya...hi." My eyes wander to behind Cam and his family to see Dan's car pull up.

"Oh shit..." I mutter.

"What?" Cam asks. I ignore him and push past him running towards Dan's grey, old car. Dan steps out and furrows his eyebrows.

"Hey. What's wrong?" He asks as I run over to him. I stand on my tip toes to whisper into his ear, "Ooooh. I understand. Damn. Patrick should have said." I shake my head.

"No, Patrick doesn't know that Cameron and I had been together." Dan nods and grabs my hand. He doesn't get it and it is quite obvious. Dan and I walk up to the doorway, fingers intertwined. Cameron looks down at our hands and his face falls.

Great.

Why does my life always have to have so much drama...

Dan's *POV*

Patrick glares at me the rest of the night since he saw me holding his cousin's hand. He has also been shaking his head at Darcy, causing her eyes to water all night. Cameron and his family have sat in silence the whole time.

Truly, it was a terrible dinner.

After Cameron and his family left, Darcy and I finally get privacy, but not for long. Patrick wants me to leave right away, so Darcy and I only get a few minutes together.

"See you tomorrow?" She asks me, the water in her eyes fading. I nod, smiling, and pulling her into a tight hug.

"Ya. I'll see you tomorrow." We pull away and she leans up to kiss me on the cheek.

"Bye, Mr. Smith." She giggles and runs off into her flat, leaving me in the dark. The only light is the dimness of the street light above.
