10:05 am - the day of the murder

Alana Haim's (from Haim) *POV*

"A-L-A-N-A! Get up! You're going to be late for History!" My eyes snap open as my roommate, Emilia McCarthy, yells at me as she jumps on top of me. I push her off of me, slightly pissed off.

"Alright, alright. I'm up. God damn, Emilia." I scoff, rolling my eyes, and sitting up in bed. Em bounces up and claps her hands together, smiling widely, "What?" I ask concerned, furrowing my eyebrows. She jumps onto my bed to sit across from me. I had just noticed that she is wearing her red cheer leading outfit. I then turn my head to look at the clock. It's 10:05. She must have already had her practice.

I turn back to her and sigh, "Okay what?"

Em takes my hands into hers and intertwines our fingers, "Today is the day of my birthday party, and all of uni is going to be there!" She whisper yells out of excitement. Fuck. I forgot today was her birthday. Suddenly, I take her in my arms, hugging her tightly.

"Happy day of birth, Em!" I shout, trying to act excited. Emilia pulls away and I can see that the sparkle in her eyes had gone out as her expression becomes serious.

"Alana, what's wrong?" She asks me. I had remembered about the party, but I just thought it was another one of her frat parties. I had totally forgotten that it was her birthday party. A sigh escapes my lips as my face falls.

"It's just...I'm not very comfortable in big crowds and I just hate parties," I look around the room then nod, "But I'll go for you." I stare into her eyes with a smile.

"Yay!" Her excited screams force me to flinch as they bounce off the walls, "Okay, now you better get ready." She tells me, patting my shoulder and jumping off the bed.

"Are you going over to Luke's dorm?" I ask her as I slowly get out of my bed. Luke is Emilia's cousin and she always stops by his dorm after I get up because they have the same first class.

"Uh ya," She says reaching for the door handle and smiling, "I'll see you later, Alana." And with that she skips out of our dorm. After I close the door behind her, I head to the bathroom, pulling my shirt over my head, and starting the water.

"SURPRISE!" I hear someone yell behind me, forcing me to fall into the bathtub, screaming. I look up to see Dan standing in the doorway of the bathroom. I notice his smile fade and his eyes turn wide. Pink starts rising in his cheeks.

Oh shit. I'm shirtless.

I quickly wrap my arms around my chest, my face starting to get hot, "WELL DON'T LOOK, YOU MORON!" I tried to be as serious as I could, but I failed. A small giggle escapes my lips.

"Can I look now?" Dan chuckles. I wrap a towel around me and come up behind Dan, wrapping my arms around him, "I take that as a yes?" He smirks. I sigh, rolling my eyes.

"Yes, babe, you can look." Oh did I not mention Dan Smith is my boyfriend. Well, he is.

"Okay good." He turns around and takes me in his arms. A huge smile forms on his face from ear to ear.

"Well, good morning to you too," I giggle, "Okay, get out. I gotta get ready. I am already as late as it is for History." I break the hug and turn away from him.

"Alright. Alright," He rolls his eyes, waving his hands in the air, "I'm out." He plants a kiss on my cheek and then leaves. Once I hear the door close, I finally take off the towel, strip, and get into the steaming water.

11:30 am - the day of the murder

Matt Healy's (from The 1975) *POV*

"Where the hell is Alana?" I ask Este, one of Alana's older sisters, as she sits next to me in History. Este shrugs.

"Probably got her lazy ass out of bed late again." She tells me, running a hand through her hair. I cock my head to the side, raising my eyebrows.

"Ya, you've got a point. She's usually late." I say, sitting back up in my seat. Next thing I know, a paper air plane hits the back of my head. Rubbing the spot, I turn around furrowing my eyebrows as I watch Connor and Tristan chuckle in the back of the room. I silently flip them off.

"Mr. Healy!" The teacher, Mr. Krik, yells from the front of the room, "This is a place where we learn and get degrees! Not a play area! Sit up, sit straight, and pay attention to the lecture!" He points to the board once more and continues his lecture. I spin back around to face Tristan and Connor and politely flip the off, a sarcastic smile growing on my lips.

Just as I turn around, Este punches me in the shoulder, "Ow! What the hell was that for?!" I shout, rubbing my shoulder. I receive many hushes from my fellow classmates, but I just scold back, "What do you want, Este?" I snap silently.

"Alana's here." She points to the front of the room where the door opens. And she's right. Alana walks in with Ross, Adam, and George following behind.

"Ah, thank you for joining us, Miss Haim, Mr. Macdonald, Mr. Daniel, and Mr. Hann. Please take a seat of your choosing above." I watch George's eyes scan the crowd of students until his eyes spot me. A huge grin appears on his face as he waves. I wave back as the four of them head up towards us.

Alana takes a seat next to her sister and Adam, Ross, and George all take a seat next to her, "Hey, did you guys get Emilia anything for her birthday?" Alana asks us. I just give her a roll of my eyes, as I cross my arms and shake my head. Alana knows that I hate Emilia McCarthy. She is the biggest bitch in this school! "Oh, come on, Matty! At least you're coming to the party, right?" Ross asks me, leaning forward so that we can make eye contact.

"Ya. Of course, but not for that she devil. Only for our other friends, the free weed, and the booze. That's it." I stick out my bottom lip, pouting. Ross sighs, closing his eyes.

"Fine. At least you're coming, and by the way, Niall and Miley are going to be taking you out to buy her something. Anything. As long as you get her something before the party." I throw my hands up.

"Fine." I scoff, coming out a little harsher than I meant.

Ross nods, "Good."

"Okay, class. Enjoy the rest of your day!" Mr. Kirk says, excusing us with his fucking retarded ass smile. I push past all of them, so that I can escape their talk about Emilia. That faggot. As I reach freedom, I run down to the parking lot, so that I can get to my car before anyone else can. Suddenly, I hear screeching of tires coming from my left side. Quickly, I turn my head to see a car speeding in my direction.

"MATTY!" I hear Alana yell. I try to run out of the way, but it's too late. The navy blue Toyota comes in contact with me, sending me rolling over the top of the car, and sending me to the hot gravel. A scream escapes my lips as pain courses through my body.

I watch the car stop, and a girl with light brown hair jumps out, running towards me. She takes the cigarette out of her mouth and flicks it onto the pavement as she neals in front of me, "Oh my god. I am so sorry. I'm so fucking stupid. God damn it!" I shake my head, propping myself of one elbow, as the group runs towards me.

"No, no. Trust me, I'm fine. Just a little soar." The girl fixes her black shades on the bridge of her nose.

"No, you're not fine. I'm an idiot. I'm so sorry." I look at the girl, trying to see her eyes from the other side of the lens.

"Listen," I rip her sunglasses off her face, revealing her bright brown eyes, "I'm fine." I say, getting to my feet. The girl stands up too.

"Okay. At least you're okay. I am so, so sorry." I wipe myself off and look up at her.

"Stop saying sorry. I forgive you," I say, annoyed, handing her back her sunglasses. She stares at them before taking them from my hand, "I'm Matt, but everyone calls me Matty." I hold out my hand for her. The girl places the sunglasses back straight on her nose and shakes my hand.

"I'm Kristen, and everyone just calls me Kristen." She says, giggling.

"Can I just call you Kris?" I ask her, already too lazy to say her full name. Kristen smiles, nodding.

"Ya sure." She breaks our hand shake.

"Hey, my friends and I," I point to the small group of my friends behind me that's here, "are having a party tonight for this faggot that they're friends with. Want to tag along?" I ask her, running a hand through my hair. Kris looks behind me at Este, Alana, George, Ross, and Adam. She shrugs.

"Sure. I'm not doing anything tonight, 'cause hey! I'm new and got no friends! Why not?" She smirks.

"We'll be your friends!" Alana chirps.

Rolling my eyes, I continue, "Well there are gonna be more of our posse there. But for now that Alana, Ross, Adam, George, and Este."

"Hi!" Kris says waving to them. It's silent for a moment before I shake my head.

"Uh...um...anyway, I got to go for now. They're forcing me to go with two other friends to buy the bitch a present. The frat house that we are having the party at is on Pleasanton Street and it's the frat with the giant sign that reads 'Happy Birthday, Emilia!' just so ya know," I pat her shoulder, "See ya there!" After that, I run to the car, regretting how stupid and awkward I am.
