N I N E

A/N *POV*

Both drivers are unconscious. It turns out the driver of the green Toyota was coincidentally drunk. The driver didn't have a seat belt on, so during the impact, he had flown through the windshield. On the other hand, Dan's head was still resting on the steering wheel, his body quite limp. Blood runs from gashes all over his body, especially his face and arms.

Ambulances struggle to pull the drunk driver out of his windshield, off the hood of the trunk, and onto a gurney. They took care of Dan last, since he was in less harsh conditions. But there seems to be a problem. In the crash, Dan's car seemed to have been hit too hard, bending and folding the car as easily as a piece of paper. In one of the folds of the car, Dan's leg seems to have been snagged in it, and it is crushed. The only way to get him out safely...was to cut off his entire right leg.

Dan ends up in the hospital, just like he hopped, but not in the way he wished. The doctors had come up with an idea to get him a prosthetic leg, but it would take weeks, possibly even months. So, for now, Dan has to stay in a wheel chair until the prosthetic leg is constructed properly and sent over to his doctor. Currently, Dan lays sleeping in his hospital bed, five doors down from Darcy.

"Dan," A voice whispers to him, "Dan...everything will be okay." The reassuring voice belongs to Augustus, the young man whom watches over Dan...more or less, Dan's guardian angel. In his mind, the song How To Save A Life plays slowly as he thinks of Darcy in his slightly unconscious state.

Darcy on the other hand, five doors down from Dan, is in too much pain to handle. She had popped a few blood vessels from all the stress. Hazel had left her a little over three hours ago. Her heart is in terrible shape right now, but is still likely to survive. We are all just lucky that none of the blood vessles really connected to her heart, or else she would have been long gone. Her heart beats slowly in her chest as her breathes come out raspy. Nothing is going on in her unconscious mind except that she knows she is in pain, death, and Dan.

Silent footsteps become louder as they run down the hall. The image of the person is still very unclear. As they keep running they start shouting someone's name.

"Darcy! Darcy!" They yell. It is now easy to make out whom this person is. It's Dan...and he is frantic, "DARCY!" He shouts, tears running down his cheeks, and fall onto the tile ground, splashing as they connect with the cold ground. Dan keeps running, looking through every room as he searches wildly for the one he loves.

The one that had changed his life.

Suddenly, he falls. A lengthy, shadow figure in a black cloak stands over him. Dan's eyes widen, and he starts to shake, "DAR-" But before he could finish, a bullet was planted deep within his skull. Blood flies back, forming puddles of his blood all over the floor and walls. Dan falls back and lays limp and lifeless on the cold tile ground, eyes wide open, full of terror.

Darcy flinches in her bed screaming. She is still unconscious, but what just ran through her mind terrified her. At this stage, she cannot tell weather it was real or not...

Dan jolts up in the bed, hearing the screams, "DARCY?!?!" He shouts, petrified. Trying to get up, he falls out of bed. Dan looks down at his legs to discover that his right leg is completely gone. He lays a shaky pair of hands over his leg, hot tears filling in his eyes. The screams continue.

"No No...NO! I'M COMING DARCY!" He shouts, using the bed to prop himself up on an elbow, trying to gain balance on the only leg he has left, "Don't leave me, Darcy..." He whispers, the tears now rushing down like a waterfall, "I am right here!" He jumps over to the doorway and leans against the wall to regain his balance.

The only thing on his mind now is Darcy and hoping that she isn't dieing. He uses the wall along the hallway to help him make his way towards the screams, slowly. Giving up, Dan lets go of the wall and tries to make it on his own without help. Through the pain, he struggles. His breathes turn heavy.

Smack! Dan falls onto the cold, tile ground. He cries in his arms because of all the pain, the screams filling his ears.
